Lexington, Kentucky is home to approximately 6000 Congolese refugees who have settled here after being granted refugee status by the United States. Many of these immigrants here have spent decades in refugee camps in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other neighboring African countries.
Within our own community, we have refugee families in need of basic items, so Christmas gifts are beyond their focus. We are coordinating with the Congolese community to provide gifts for the children of refugee families in most need. We are hosting a donation center in our office and ask, if you feel so inclined, to donate an unwrapped toy for a child aged 6-12 or any giftwrap items (wrapping paper, gift bags, tape, bows). Parents will be able to select a toy for their child to wrap and take home for Christmas morning. Feel free to drop unwrapped gifts at our office, Commonwealth Plastic Surgery, or send them via Amazon to 715 Shaker Drive, Suite 100, and we will make sure your toy goes to a child in need this Christmas.
