Ask the Expert: Chemical and Laser Skin Resurfacing

Commonwealth Plastic Surgery

Happy September! Fall is here, and it’s time to reset your skin from Summer. From mild chemical peels to CO2 laser, resetting the sun damaged layers of your skin is one of the best steps you can take for anti-aging. Luckily, Commonwealth Plastic Surgery has a wealth of skin resurfacing options for you!

The Initial Step

The first step in your skin routine is a routine chemical peel, performed by our Licensed Nurse Skin Care Specialist. She performs our mild peels using a sugar or milk acid that targets only the top, dead layers of skin. There is no down time, and we recommend these peels every 4-6 weeks. We offer 50% off your first peel, along with a free skin care analysis to get you started.

Stronger Chemical Peels

If you’re needing to address pigment or fine lines, I can use stronger chemical peels to lift pigment and slough it away. These peels have about a week of downtime, where your skin will be red and peel, but the before and after is pretty amazing. After a week, you’re able to put on makeup and resume any regular activities. These peels combat anti-aging when performed yearly.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

The best option for removing years worth of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and discoloration of the skin, however, is laser skin resurfacing

The word “laser” can be daunting, but with our new Lumenis UltraPulse, I am able to customize the depth for every patient to create the perfect treatment for their skin issues. This particular laser can also reduce excessive heat and thermal damage and uses CoolScan technology, which keeps patients comfortable during their procedure and increases optimal results. Downtime varies for this laser, meaning it can fit any patient’s lifestyle, but the results are phenomenal. Pictured below are Day 3 and Day 4 post-CO2 Procedure.
